Production of solar panels produces large amounts of waste consisting of sawdust mixed with liquid.
Approximately 40% of the silicon becomes waste that has largely gone to landfill, where there are challenges such as the risk of explosion and degradation of the silicon through oxidation.
ReSiTec currently receives silicon slurry from both Europe and Asia. This is dried and cleaned in Kristiansand, and ends up as silicon powder which is used as raw material in other industries.
