Wet classification of particles

In some cases, it is more convenient to fractionate particles while in a liquid solution rather than in the dry state.
They have worked with two different techniques for this, both of which can be good solutions for achieving a narrow particle distribution.

Wet classification or fractionation of particles is typically a process that follows a wet crushing process, chemical treatment, crystallization, atomization or other form of wet powder production. Work has been done on classifying powders in batches or continuously. Often a water classifier is well suited in a pilot, while a more continuous system can be considered on a larger scale. The purpose of such a classification is often to remove coarse particles or fines before the product is filtered or further processed in our solution.

Available equipment:

Future Materials has worked with the fractionation of powders using two different methods in the wet state.

Water classifiers of 20 liters / 1500 liters
Hydrocyclones from ½'' to 6'' size with a good selection of nozzles and additional equipment

There has been work with metal powders and minerals with typical particle sizes from 2-100 µm.

Examples (use in projects/performed services):

Future Materials has developed a process for purifying silicon carbide using hydrocyclones in several stages. This is patented, WO 2015/059522.

In addition to pure test assignments, we can also contribute to the design of new, troubleshooting or optimization of existing equipment at customers.
