Arvin compounds - analysis and detection

Future Materials with core partner Norner has robust expertise in detecting and analyzing Arvin compounds in polymer materials.
What is in the material? → What migrates into the water? → Is the product compliant?

Arvin compounds

EU’s updated Drinking Water Directive introduces specific migration limits and documentation requirements for ten different Arvin compounds.

Arvin compounds are typically impurities or degradation products formed from stabilizers and antioxidants added to polymer formulations used in products such as pipes and packaging.

Enhanced expertise and highly sensitive detection methods for reliable quantification are crucial for regulatory authorities, manufacturers, and food industry stakeholders in maintaining strict safety standards.

Enhanced Expertise

Through the Siva-supported skills development project "Detection of Arvin compounds in plastics," we—together with our core partner Norner—have built robust expertise in detecting and analyzing Arvin compounds in polymer materials.

We can therefore offer advice and support, particularly regarding the safe use of recycled plastics, and assist the industry in developing and qualifying polymer materials for sensitive applications involving direct contact.

Services

  1. Identification and quantification using LC/QTOF and GC-MS.
  2. Targeted analysis with high sensitivity and accuracy at very low concentrations.
  3. Migration analysis – how Arvin compounds can migrate from polymer materials to a contact medium.
  4. Material safety – presence of potentially harmful compounds in materials for contact-sensitive products.
  5. Advisory and support regarding regulatory compliance and documentation – compliance with upcoming EU requirements for materials.
